Release the Old to Welcome in the New!
Let's have a quick discussion about what the difference between change and transition is before we get started with this blog post.
Change is something that happens externally. It's an event or situation that happens like a new season, a new job, etc.
Transition is something that happens internally. It's more of a mental process of adapting to change that occurs. Often we have to let go of something to then move forward as we adjust to the new way of things. For instance, saying goodbye to summer means packing up the swim suits, shorts, and flip flops to transition our closets for fall and winter wear like sweaters, coats, and boots.
To further explain how we can release the old to welcome in the new, I'm going to share a personal story with you. Because I feel leading by example means being vulnerable and honest with you about my own struggles.
If you are new here, this will be the first time you are hearing some of this. If you are returning here, some of it may be familiar to you.
In 2017, I launched my stationery and greeting card brand, Lilian Grace Designs. My ten year plan included selling both retail and wholesale, I wanted to see my products in stores. Over the last eight (soon to be nine) years, I have achieved my goals and then some.
Now, in 2025, I am faced with the need to change - forced externally - due to supply and demand, as well as physical ability. Earlier this year, I had made a subtle announcement that I had made the difficult decision to discontinue the Lilian Grace Designs brand. That was as far as I went.
I packed up all the products in bins and stored them until I was ready to face liquidating them. Well, the time has come for this to take place so I can transition into what is awaiting me.
For the remainder of 2025, I'll be updating my website, specifically The Market, to have all the Lilian Grace Designs brand on closeout as I liquidate. There will be new bundles, deep discounts, and all of it will be while supplies last.
In addition to this liquidation, I am beginning creating items for my new brand, Oh So Shonda. These items will be categorized across five key collections:
- BusiCEO - for businesses and entrepreneurs
- The Write Shop - for writers and authors
- Rooted in Grace - for women of faith
- Friendship from the Heart - for those seeking to deepen their relationships with others and more importantly, with themselves
- Bound Together - for the book lovers
As you can see, I am not only being strategic in my collections, I'm being intentional. This creates a much more streamlined way to shop, puts you in the right spaces for the products you are looking for, and still incorporates some of the Lilian Grace Designs favorites that have been reimagined under the new brand.
The transition to this new way of shopping is already happening on my website with an all new home page, and an all new menu.
Once the product lineup has been fully integrated, I'll then move on to the next phase of my business transformation, which is to release the courses, workshops, bootcamps, and workbooks I have been creating for you.
This is an exciting time for me as I work towards continuing to launch and align my business with my calling. Though it is happening on a timeline I didn't set, I believe God's timing is always perfect.
For most of this year, I have been hard on myself for the lack of ability I had to physically do anything. I felt like I had wasted a whole year. But, what I have come to realize is that time in rest isn't time wasted. It's exactly what we need to rejuvenate, refresh, and renew our mind, body, and spirit.
So, have hope, that you are exactly where you are meant to be right now. If you are faced with a change, know that the transition is one that takes time. But, that time is worth it in the end.
Thank you for being patient with me and continuing to show up for me week after week. I appreciate you!
With Grace, Shonda Ramsey
