Life is short...don't wait!

Life is short...don't wait!

How many times do you pause to consider that life is short and waiting to do something could mean you risk never being given the chance to do the very thing you hope to do?

I know, easy for me to say, right? I can hear your objection, "But Shonda, I'm just so busy! Life, work, kids, all of it is just too much!"

My friend, it is all about balance. You have to delicately balance all those balls you've thrown up in the air in hopes that they don't come crashing down around you. Can I ask you a hard question? Are all those balls necessary or are you putting far too much on your plate?

When I hear someone tell me they just can't do "the thing", I want to grab them by their shoulders and shake them until they wake up. Excuses will always keep you right where you are, stuck frozen in place while precious time passes you right by. We all have the same 24 hours in a day, we all have different home life and work dynamics, we all have hopes and dreams, and we all have the power to do the things that matter most to us.

Here are some tips to begin making progress in your life in a way that fulfills your dreams:

  • Prioritization is key-what you make a priority will determine your outcome.
  • Skip the remote-is binge watching that show on stream really want you need to be doing, or could you spend the next hour working towards a dream?
  • Get help-you are one person, my friend. There is no shame in asking for help so you can shift around priorities.
  • Planning helps-I'm not talking just a daily or weekly kind of plan, I'm talking monthly, quarterly, and annual planning too so you can know what is ahead.
  • Daily commitment-spend no less than fifteen minutes on a task that gets you one step closer to your dream every single day.
  • Don't throw it away-it may feel unattainable right now, but don't throw the dream away, instead figure out a way to make it more attainable.

Life is short, and you never know when a major curve ball could be thrown in your way. Don't waste another moment, get up and do the thing.

With Grace, Shonda
